We serve you so you can serve others.

Drenner Accounting & Advisory, LLC is not your traditional accounting firm. Our services are designed to accommodate the needs of your organization in a collaborative manner. This approach, which is more advisory and less transactional, begins by scheduling a discovery call to see if our services are compatible with your organization.

During the meeting, we will ask questions to learn more about your mission and goals, as well as any challenges you might be facing. If we can help, the discussion will move to how and where we believe we can make an impact. Rest assured that we can help you find the resources you need even if you won’t be engaging with us.

We believe in a fixed-fee pricing model. As we take on the role of your trusted advisor, we want you to feel comfortable calling or emailing your questions without having to worry about additional costs.

Assessment and Review

At the beginning of most engagements, we perform a thorough assessment and review of your accounting and donor management functions to help us identify opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Throughout the process, we will take a closer look at the following:

  • What’s working well?

  • What staff and systems are already in place?

  • What areas could be improved?

  • What tools could be used to streamline information so your team can work smarter, not harder?

The assessment includes meeting with key personnel to review your current processes, procedures, software, and reporting. We will discuss our analysis with your leadership team and help navigate the best path forward.

Many nonprofits operate within the confines of a tight budget, which means they may not have the resources to pay for a full-time CFO or controller. Yet there are times when that expertise is the very thing they need to maximize the value of their donations and plan effectively for the future. We can help by creating a monthly service package that meets your specific needs, from bank reconciliations to financial statement review and analysis.

Financial reports that you have confidence in and can use to make decisions are what matters most. We help you interpret the reports, placing your leaders in a better position to make informed management decisions.

Advisory Services

Accounting

Our accounting services are designed to accommodate the unique needs of your organization. While this typically includes the following competencies, our customized approach makes it possible to address other areas that may be specific to your organization.

  • Accounting software: Evaluate and compare the costs of your current software with others on the market and identify any strengths and weaknesses. We can work with your current software or suggest an alternative, but any recommendation to use a specific platform will not result in a referral fee paid to our firm.

  • Bookkeeping: Review your processes for efficiency, effectiveness, and good use of internal controls.

  • Expense Management: Examine your procurement, accounts payable, and credit card processes.

  • Payroll: Assess your payroll processing time and compare the cost to other alternatives.

  • Budgeting: Review your current budget creation process and determine how effectively it is providing actionable data throughout the fiscal year.

  • Audit support: Discuss reports, concerns, and ways to improve your audit experience, as well as provide guidance and support during the audit.

  • Reporting: Determine if your current accounting reports meet the operational and ministry needs of the users in a timely manner.

Donor Management

Donor management is an important part of any nonprofit organization. Too often people neglect to manage this wealth of information in a way that leads to greater donor retention. It is easier to keep a donor than to gain a new one. Let us help you find ways to better track and analyze the giving patterns of your existing donors as you work to cultivate new ones.

  • Software: Evaluate software integrations with accounting and communication applications.

  • Donor management processes: Track donors across multiple systems and people while examining the effectiveness of your policies, practices, and processes.

  • Giving channels (traditional, online, text-to-give): Assess the effectiveness of each channel and help identify the costs and benefits of channels that are not currently being used.

  • Goals for reporting and usage: Identify how giving reports can be used to impact stewardship, communication, and volunteer engagement.
